Homeless Families to Have Their Day at the Zoo
PT Marketing Sponsors Day of Recreation and Learning for the Children
Pittsburgh, PA (June 14, 2010)- On Sunday, June 27th, PT Marketing and the Interfaith Hospitality Network (IHN) are treating homeless families to a much-deserved day of food, fun, and wonder at the Pittsburgh Zoo. The event will be a unique opportunity to teach children about the excitement of the animal kingdom, and motivate them to develop interests and learn about the world around them. It also provides a day of fun for the whole family that otherwise would be unaffordable to them.
PT Marketing, with the help of donations from Pittsburgh-area businesses, has provided organizational and logistical support to create and implement this event. The IHN Zoo Day is the latest of PT’s Community Outreach Events which are aimed to bring together local businesses for charitable purposes in supporting the local community. PT Marketing also has held food and clothing drives with the proceeds going to local food banks and shelters.
“A major component of our mission statement is ‘to contribute to the quality of life of people in our communities’,” stated Harvey Pollack, CEO of PT Marketing. “This event is just one example of how our employees are enriching the lives of people in the greater Pittsburgh area.”
Since 1993, IHN, which operates in Crafton, PA (Allegheny County) and Washington, PA (Washington County), has been providing a solid program for homeless families, incorporating overnight lodging using network churches throughout the area. IHN provides shelter, food, and social services to all families in the program. This is the first time that families from the IHN will have an opportunity to attend an event at the Pittsburgh Zoo.
“We greatly appreciate the effort PT Marketing’s employees have displayed to put this event together,” stated Tracey Finn of IHN. “Everyone is really looking forward to it! It is very challenging for our families to have the means to do such special and important trips. This day at the zoo will be a great treat for these families and something they will never forget.”
